Trisha Krishnan likely to star in Tamil remake of Badla

Trisha saw Badla in a private screening over the weekend and was blown away by the film

If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, Trisha Krishnan will be seen playing Taapsee Pannu’s role in the Tamil remake of Badla, which also featured Amitabh Bachchan and was directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Following the phenomenal response for the recently released film, which is based on Spanish thriller Contratriempo (2016), reports have emerged that Badla is all set to be remade in Tamil.

Apparently, Trisha saw Badla in a private screening over the weekend and was blown away by the film. It is learnt that she’s extremely excited about the idea of starring in the remake, but she is yet to officially give her nod.

Interestingly, Trisha is also in talks to star in the Tamil remake of Andhadhun (2018). She has been approached to play Radhika Apte’s role in the film.

Last seen playing superstar Rajinikanth’s wife in Petta, Trisha is all set to commence work on a women-centric thriller alongside Simran.

In the yet-untitled film, to be directed by Sumanth Radhakrishnan, Trisha and Simran will be seen playing sisters and performing heavy-duty action. Some action sequences will also be shot underwater, according to the director.

In preparation for the role, Trisha and Simran will undergo marine level training.

Talking to The Times of India daily, Sumanth opened up about the project.

“This is a unique script, with water playing a big part in this adventure film. When I wrote the script, I felt I needed to cast leading actresses, who have mutual admiration for each other. Then it struck me that I can cast Trisha and Simran,” he said.
