Filmmaker SS Rajamouli, nearly two years after the release of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, on Thursday finally spilt some beans on his highly anticipated upcoming multi-lingual magnum opus RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR (Tarak) in the lead.
One of the big highlights of the project is that it will mark the Telugu debuts of popular Hindi film stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn.
Talking to reporters, Rajamouli said that RRR will be a fictional story based on the lives of two real-life heroes.
“This will be a fictional story on the lives of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. There are gaps in the lives of these freedom fighters that we don’t know about. We don’t know what happened in their lives in these years when they were away from their homes and families,” Rajamouli said.
“It is through this fictional story we’d like to show what could have happened in their lives and what would have happened if they met and bonded to fight for the same cause,” he added.
Jr NTR and Ram Charan, who are sharing screen space for the first time, will be seen playing Komaram Bheem and Allu Seetharama Raju respectively.
Welcoming Bhatt and Devgn to Telugu filmdom, Rajamouli said he is thrilled to have them on board.

“Ajay will be seen playing a very crucial role in a flashback episode. When I pitched the idea, he immediately gave his nod and adjusted dates to be part of this project. Alia has been paired with Ram Charan,” he said.
Rajamouli also confirmed that international actress Daisy Edgar Jones has been paired opposite Tarak.
Producer DVV Danayya, who confirmed the film is being made on a budget of Rs350 crore, will hit the screens in 10 Indian languages next year on 30 July.
