Veteran artiste Sanjay Mishra’s next is interestingly titled Shadow Of Othello. The film is a comical take on William Shakespeare’s classic play Othello. Produced by Vikas Vashistha, it marks the directorial debut of Istiyak Khan.
Throwing more light on the subject, Khan said in an official statement, “As a filmmaker, I believe every film should have a social message. This film tells us that our society has different shades and one of them is that people get jealous or affected by negative vibes easily. So this film teaches us how we can judge our flaws and fight against them to become better persons.”
Apart from Mishra, Shadow Of Othello stars Ipsita Chakraborty, Vikram Kochar, Tina Bhatia and Ashish Shukla.
Before turning director, Khan played supporting roles in films like Mastaram (2013) and True Love Pyar Ke Panchhi (2017).
The makers plan to showcase the film first at a few festivals and then release it theatrically. “We have just one aim, to give you the best film of 2019. The film is in post-production and tentatively hits the screens at the end of this year. First thing now, we are planning to hit the film festivals. Soon we are planning to release the first look of the movie and I am sure it will be appreciated internationally,” said producer Vashistha in the statement.
The last time Othello was adapted in mainstream Hindi cinema was with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara (2006), which starred Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, Konkona Sensharma and Bipasha Basu.
