If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, actor Dhanush is keen on acquiring the remake rights of Sriram Raghavan's Andhadhun (2018), starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Radhika Apte and Tabu.

Apparently, Dhanush has already reached out to the makers of the original and initiated talks about acquiring the remake rights.

Speaking at an event while promoting his upcoming international film, The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir (2019), Dhanush said: "When I watched Andhadhun, I just couldn’t stop myself from reaching out to its team and seeking the remake rights. I loved the film and the performances. However, it hasn’t worked out yet.”

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Andhadhun (2018) was the story of a blind pianist who accidentally gets embroiled in the murder of a film actor. The film was raved about for its quirky storytelling and dark humour which worked in its favour and help to register big numbers at the box office.

Andhadhun was released in China in April and went on to be a smash hit at the box office there. It collected around $48 million (approximately Rs310 crore nett) from China alone.

Meanwhile, Dhanush currently has three projects in his kitty. He is on the verge of wrapping up Vetrimaaran’s revenge thriller Asuran (2019), which is based on the Tamil novel Vekkai by Poomani. The film will feature him in dual roles.

Dhanush also has Vada Chennai 2 and a yet-untitled project with director Durai Senthil Kumar. Interestingly, he again plays dual roles in Durai’s film which also stars Sneha.

He also has a fantasy comedy with director Ramkumar and another film with Pariyerum Perumal (2018) director Mari Selvaraj in the offing.
