As we know, director Shrabani Deodhar’s Mogra Phulaalaa (2019) is about Sunil Kulkarni (Swapnil Joshi), a man who hasn’t been able to marry even after being well into his 30s. The teaser of the movie, which was recently released, shows that the film features role reversal as far as an unmarried man is concerned.
It is common in our society for the mother of an unmarried girl to worry about people’s taunts on she not being married. But Mogra Phulaalaa shows that even the mother of an unmarried man has to face the same issues. This is seen in the scene where Joshi’s character is speaking with his mother (Neena Kulkarni).
The trailer reveals more about the story that Sunil’s marriage is fixed with newcomer Sonam Nishandar’s character, but he falls for another woman (Sai Deodhar), a colleague.
Going by the trailers, Mogra Phulaalaa holds promise of being a sensitive portrayal of the crisis faced by someone who is neither a youngster nor an older man. His predicament seems to have been naturally mixed with a love triangle and the complex relationship between a mother and son. The film is a family drama but it doesn't seem to follow melodramatic route of daily soaps.
Mogra Phulaalaa also features filmmaker Chandrakant Kulkarni in the role of Joshi’s uncle.
The film is due to be released on 14 June.
