As per the title, this is the third film in the Commando franchise and all three films so far have starred Jammwal. The first film, directed by Dilip Ghosh, came out in 2013, while the second, Commando 2 (2017), saw actor Deven Bhojani turn director.
Commando 3 (2019) will be helmed by Aditya Datt, who is making a comeback on the big screen after Table No 21 (2013).
Datt was the director behind Sunny Leone's recent web-series biopic titled Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story Of Sunny Leone. Datt is also known for Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005), which played a big role in making actor Emraan Hashmi a popular face.
In March this year, the film’s producers Reliance Entertainment had released a teaser of Commando 3. It featured the back of Jammwal, who is all set to take on a group of foreigners in a foreign land. The film also stars Adah Sharma, who was also a part of Commando 2, and Angira Dhar.
