S Shankar's 2.0 (2018), which pitted Rajinikanth versus Akshay Kumar, is now heading to its biggest market - China. The sci-fi action film, now titled 2.0: Resurgence for the local audience, is due to be released on 12 July.

The film's composer, AR Rahman, shared the Chinese poster of the film to confirm its release.

The Rajinikanth-starrer becomes the first Indian film to screen in 3D IMAX in over 50,000 screens. Reportedly, the film is being trimmed down from its 149 minutes running time to be adjusted down to 107 minutes for the Chinese audience.

While Hindi cinema has been steadily making inroads in China over the last few years, Tamil cinema has yet to make a mark in the region. Who better than the superstar himself to take a crack at this elusive market?

2.0 (2018), produced by Lyca Productions, also released dubbed versions in Hindi and Telugu. The film grossed over Rs409 crore across all languages in India. It was released in 10,500 screens worldwide.
