Shadaa review: To wed or not to wed, that is the question
This is the highest number of collections for a Punjabi movie. The previous record was held by Gippy Grewal-starrer Carry On Jatta 2 (2018), the sequel of his hit Carry On Jatta (2012). The film had made Rs16.30 crore in the first week.
Also starring Neeru Bajwa, Shadaa had also broken the record for highest weekend score for a Punjabi film when it had made Rs9.25 crore in the first three days. The previous record was also held by Carry On Jatta 2, which had scored Rs8.30 crore in its first weekend.
The film held well in the weekdays that followed. There was a slight dip yesterday as it made Rs1.75 crore but it wasn’t significant decrease.
But it will be interesting to see if Shadaa becomes the highest Punjabi grosser ever. Carry On Jatta 2 currently holds that record with lifetime collections of Rs33.50 crore.
What’s further impressive is that Shadaa clashed with the Hindi film Kabir Singh (2019), starring Shahid Kapoor, has set the box office ablaze with Rs100 crore in five days. Luckily, that has had no effect on the numbers of Shadaa.
