Suriya’s upcoming Tamil action thriller Kaappaan (2019), which marks his third collaboration with director KV Anand, has been titled Bandobast in Telugu. The Telugu title was unveiled by filmmaker SS Rajamouli on Friday via his Twitter page.

In the film, Suriya plays a bodyguard to Mohanlal’s character who is prime minister. Directed by KV Anand, Kaappaan marks the first time on screen collaboration of Suriya and Mohanlal.

In a recent Facebook live chat, Suriya opened up about working with Mohanlal in the film.

“He is the best [actor] we have in our country. We have learned about acting through his movies. I was introduced to Malayalam cinema with Kilukkam (1991), Kireedam (1989), Spadikam (1995) and all his wonderful films.”

Suriya said he takes reference for his films from his work. While most actors struggle to perform in front of a camera, Suriya said that even if there is a magnifying lens right in front of his face, Mohanlal will make it disappear.

Kaappaan, which is gearing up for release this August, has been shot in nearly ten countries including places like New York, Brazil, England, and Hyderabad and New Delhi in India.

The film, produced by Lyca Productions, also stars Arya, Sayyeshaa, Boman Irani and Samuthirakani in key roles. Arya, who will be seen sharing the screen space with Suriya for the first time, is rumoured to be playing the antagonist. The film has music by Harris Jayaraj.
