Nerkonda Paarvai song 'Vaanil Irul': Hope flies high in this wonderful Yuvan Shankar Raja composition

Like the trailer, the first song of Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), the Tamil remake of Pink (2016), captures the sense of hopelessness, fight, and determination that drives the film. Sung by Dhee, the composition belongs to Yuvan Shankar Raja. 

The song's lyrics are built as an anthem to the girls fighting a desperate battle. The song builds up the battle the girls are facing by comparing it to a coming storm. The imagery of lightning, fear, and clouds make for an ominous atmosphere. 

Where the song truly takes off is in the vocals of Dhee. With her low baritone, the singer delivers a strong emotion through the song. Her vocals are perfectly backed by Yuvan Shankar Raja's music that builds on the percussion rhythms and a guitar backdrop. 

The feel of a Spanish rhythm runs through the song, with the violin and woodwinds bringing in the additional element. 

The song is the first lyrical single from the film, directed by H Vinoth, which is set to release on 10 August.
