The way the subject is handled by director Hemant Kumar Mahale appears outdated in today's times.

Actor Raqesh Bapat was first seen on the big screen many years ago in currently trending filmmaker Anubhav Sinha’s directorial debut Tum Bin: Love Will Find A Way (2001). Bapat was one of the three leading men in the film, along with Priyanshu Chatterjee and Himanshu Malik.
Bapat then entered Marathi cinema and has been seen in films like Aayna Ka Bayna (2012), Vrundavan (2016), Savita Damodar Paranjpe (2018) and Mumbai Apli Ahe (2019).
Now Bapat will be seen in Hemant Kumar Mahale’s WhatApp Love, where he has been cast opposite Anuja Sathe.
The trailer of the film, which was released recently, suggests the film is about a happily married couple (Bapat and Sathe). A friend warns the wife that husbands have extramarital affairs, but she is sure her husband would never do such a thing. He does, of course.
To put it simply, the trailer is regressive. It is surprising that even in 2019 we have films where a man’s extramarital affair is shown as normal and sugar-coated as light-hearted entertainment.
But the most problematic part is the one where the wife’s mother asks her to revive her marriage by giving the lame example of spoilt milk, as if she were responsible for the mess.
WhatsApp Love is being released on 12 July. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film.
