TV journalist Ashok Pandey moved court to file a first information report (FIR) against actor Salman Khan, accusing the latter of assault.

Khan and his bodyguards accosted Pandey back in April, when he was discreetly filming the actor on his bicycle ride, and allegedly took away the journalist's phone.

According to a Press Trust of India report, a complaint has been registered with magistrate RR Khan, additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Andheri, under sections 323 (causing hurt), 392 (robbery) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

The complaint adds that the actor and his bodyguards threatened Pandey with consequences for filming the actor.

While Pandey had approached the police immediately after the incident on 24 April, the police later dismissed the complaint saying no crime had been committed.

The application seeking an FIR and a probe will be heard on 12 July.
