A magistrate court in Mumbai summoned Kangana Ranaut, and her sister Rangoli Chandel, to reply to the defamation cases filed by actor Aditya Pancholi. The actor had filed a defamation suit against the sisters for their comments against him on social media, and in public interviews.
According to a Press Trust of India (PTI) report, magistrate SB Dighe summoned the two sisters with regards to the four cases of complaints filed by Aditya Pancholi, and his wife, Zarina Wahab.
The cases against Kangana Ranaut are related to her comments on an interview alleging that Pancholi assaulted her when she was still a budding actress. The complaints against Rangoli Chandel are related to her frequent comments on social media where she has alleged violence by Pancholi while he was dating Ranaut.
The report also quoted Pancholi's lawyer, Shreya Shrivastava saying, "She (Kangana) had claimed that Aditya kept her under house arrest and she registered an FIR against him, but since no such FIR was ever registered, there is prima facie case that she defamed him."
The matter is posted for further hearing on 26 July.
