Recently, actor Shreyas Talpade was announced as the voice of meerkat Timon in the Hindi version of the Hollywood remake of the animated classic The Lion King (1994).
The actor spoke about his circle-of-life moment in the new The Lion King (2019) as he plays the best friend to Simba, voiced by Aryan Khan.
In Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om (2007), Talpade played best friend to Aryan's father, Shah Rukh Khan. In the upcoming Hollywood remake, he is the on-screen best friend to Khan's son.
"The Lion King (2019) is a film we all love and it's an honour to voice for Timon, but this film is special to me for another reason. From playing Shah Rukh's best friend in Om Shanti Om (2007) to voicing Aryan's best friend's role in The Lion King, life has come a full circle for me," the actor stated in a press release.
Actor Sanjay Mishra plays the third part of the trio of friends as the warthog Pumba. They will sing the popular song 'Hakuna Matata' in the film. The Lion King is due to be released in theatres on 19 July in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
The international star cast of the film features actor-singer Donald Glover as Simba, singer Beyonce as Nala, actor-comedian Billy Eichner as Timon, actor James Earl Jones returning as Simba's father Mufasa, actor Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and actress Alfre Woodard as Simba's mother, Sarabi.
