Actor Dhanush, who has also established himself as a singer, has revealed he had fun recording a soothing, raw and peppy number for upcoming revenge drama Asuran (2019), which is being directed by Vetrimaaran.
On Monday, actor-composer GV Prakash Kumar took to Twitter to announce that he has recorded a song from Asuran featuring voices of Dhanush, Ken Karunas and Tee Jay.
“Dhanush, Ken and Tee Jay sing a song together in Yugabharathi’s lyrics. A peppy track on way for Vetrimaaran,” tweeted Prakash, who previously made Dhanush sing in his films such as Polladhavan (2007) and Aadukalam (2011).

Asuran, which marks the fourth collaboration of Vetrimaaran and Dhanush, is tipped to be a revenge drama that traces the fight of an oppressed community against those oppressing them. The film marks the Tamil debut of Malayalam actress Manju Warrier.
While the makers are yet to reveal the rest of the cast and crew, it has however been learnt from reliable sources that popular Tamil director Balaji Sakthivel, known for helming critically-acclaimed films like Kaadhal (2004) and Vazhakku Enn 18/9 (2013), has been roped in to play the antagonist.
Interestingly, Dhanush plays dual roles in Asuran and will be seen as father and son. The team is currently filming the final schedule which commenced in May.
It’s after wrapping up this project, Vetrimaaran will return to finish the pending work on the second part of the multigenerational gangster drama franchise Vada Chennai (2018), which featured Dhanush as a carrom player who gets sucked into the world of politics and rowdyism.
Dhanush, meanwhile, will also soon resume work on his next project with director Durai Senthil Kumar. He again plays dual roles in this film.
