Article 15 song ‘Intezari’: Armaan Malik’s voice complements this soft ballad on distance and waiting

The third song from the Article 15 (2019) soundtrack is another romantic number after ‘Naina Yeh’.

This track highlights the long-distance relationship between married couple Ayan (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Aditi (Isha Talwar). While Ayan is posted far away in a rural setting, his wife, a professional, continues with her life and career, it seems.

Composer Anurag Saikia sets the mood well, taking us through the highs and lows of their relationship. He uses a good mix of Indian and Western instruments like the tabla and the ukelele to achieve that result.

Meanwhile Shakeel Azmi’s lyrics focus on the long moments of loneliness despite the couple staying in touch with technology. At one point, it seems as if the couple face a major rift and are unsure of how to proceed.

Armaan Malik is a good choice for the song as his lilting voice complements both Khurrana and the song. The singer’s vocals blend in easily with Saikia’s soft score for the track. ‘Intezari’ has an instantly soothing effect and is easy on the ears.

Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Article 15 is due to be released on 28 June.
