Akshay Kumar to recreate 'Tip Tip Barsa Pani' for Sooryavanshi

The actor confirmed that he had acquired rights to the iconic song composed by Viju Shah.

Fans of the 1990s era are now famiiliar with seeing songs recreated to a modern template these days. Akshay Kumar though is set to remake one of his own songs for the upcoming film, Sooryavanshi (2020).

The actor has confirmed the purchase of the rights to the song, Tip Tip Barsa Paani, from his hit film, Mohra (1994) to be recreated in the Rohit Shetty film releasing next year. 

Akshay confirmed the news on Twitter. "I would’ve definitely been disappointed if any other actor would’ve recreated 'Tip Tip Barsa Paani', a song which has been synonymous with me and my career and I can’t thank Ratan Jain ji enough," he wrote. 

The song picturised on Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar was composed by Viju Shah for Mohra (1994). Sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, the song remains popular even after 25 years.

According to BollywoodHungama.com, the makers of the film had initially chosen 'Bholi Bhali Ladki' from Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995) to be remade, but it was Akshay Kumar's decision to pick 'Tip Tip Barsa Paani' for Sooryavanshi.

Akshay approached Ratan Jain, who held the rights to the song, and asked for it. Jain was reportedly happy to give the song to Kumar for the film. 

Sooryavanshi is directed by Rohit Shetty, and features Akshay Kumar as an Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officer. The film is set to be released in theatres on 27 March 2020.
