After the furore over Sunaina Roshan's recent tweets, and Rangoli Chandel's accusation about the Roshan family hounding her, Hrithik Roshan's ex-wife, Sussanne Khan, has stepped in with a statement to defend the family.

Posting on Instagram, Susanne wrote, "As a part of my experience with all concerned and in my life span of being a part of this close knit family, I know Sunaina, to be an extremely loving warm, caring person, who is in an unfortunate situation. Sunaina's father is undergoing a major health crisis. Her mother is herself vulnerable to say the least. Please respect a family's tough periods, each family goes through such times. I needed to say this as someone who has been a part of this family for long."

The furore erupted after Sunaina, Hrithik's sister, put up a tweet on 18 June, declaring her support for Kangana Ranaut. Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut have been at loggerheads since the latter accused Hrithik of being vindictive in a relationship.

The controversy was fuelled by Rangoli Chandel, Ranaut's sister, taking to social media to reveal that Sunaina has been calling Ranaut asking for help. Chandel also alleged that the Roshans had been 'physically assaulting' Sunaina.

Chandel added that Ranaut and herself, while willing to help Sunaina, were saving messages to avoid a backlash from the Roshans.

In an exclusive to Pinkvilla.com, Sunaina Roshan said, "I read Rangoli’s tweets and I don’t care because that is the truth. I am fine with her tweeting because I want the truth to come out. I have always supported the truth and I will always support it. I am meeting Kangana and Rangoli today as they are bringing me justice."

Sunaina went on to add that her father had 'slapped' her on learning of her relationship with a journalist, and the family had refused to pay money for her living expenses.

In the interview, Sunaina sided with Ranaut in the latter's battle with Hrithik Roshan saying, "I have always been extremely fond of Kangana, but two years ago, when she won a National Award, I messaged her, she told me ‘Don’t be friends with me or be in touch because of the family,’ and I was wondering what was happening as I wasn’t aware of what was happening. Nobody told me. That’s when I asked my family what is going on and if my brother has any proof, tell him to put it out into the open. Why is he hiding the proof?"

Meanwhile, Hrithik's cousin, Eeshan Roshan, slammed the Ranaut sisters on his social media saying, "Why are these sisters obsessed with this family? My bade papa is undergoing a health crisis, Didi is vulnerable. It’s a very sensitive period for our family. I request these people to be sensitive and not act as vultures."

While Hrithik Roshan has maintained a silence over the issue, the furore caused might force his hand. The actor is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming film, Super 30 (2019), due to be released on 12 July.
