Siddharth Roy Kapur was invited as a key panellist on the international producers’ panel at the Shanghai International Film Festival in China this week.
The event, titled ‘Meet the Film Producers: Behind the Curtain of Hits and Indies’, was a conversation among contemporary producers about the art of making tent-pole blockbuster films that connect with viewers across the world.
Roy Kapur spoke at the event with content creators from East Asia, which included Ellen R Eliasoph, CEO of Perfect Village Entertainment, Jiang Wei, CEO of Legendary East, and Ye Ning, CEO of Huayi Brothers Pictures.

Roy Kapur also discussed how Indian cinema is receiving a positive response in China by citing the success of his own production Dangal (2016) in China. The Aamir Khan-starrer earned Rs1,200 crore at the China box office.
After the event, Roy Kapur said in an official statement, “The Shanghai International Film Festival is a significant forum for the global film community to celebrate cinema and exchange ideas, and it is a pleasure to be here. India and China are two of the most vibrant and diverse film markets, and I look forward to engaging with industry stakeholders here in furthering the filmmaking ties between us.”
