Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal is about Indian Space Research Organization's (ISRO) successful Mars Orbiter mission.
Tahil spoke about working with Akshay in an exclusive interview. He said, “It is enjoyable working with Akshay. Even after all these years he hasn’t changed. He has always been disciplined."
"Even when he didn’t have the control over the film [when he was relatively new] he always used to do everything on time. It is enjoyable today when he has control over the project. Everyone arrives on the set on time because Akshay comes an hour earlier. He wakes up at 4 am. I jokingly told him I hope you won’t call us at 6 am," he laughed and said.
When asked about his role in the film, Tahil revealed, “I can only say that I am an antagonist against Akshay’s character.”
Tahil is all praise for the content of Mission Mangal. “It is a brilliant script. It’s a hatke [different] film. The choice of the subject is very good. It is the kind of a story which will have a great impact in today’s era. Mission Mangal is about India’s progress in the space arena. Just recently, we had launched a missile. It’s a sweet and simple story,” he said.
Mission Mangal is due to be released on 15 August. It will go up against the Prabhas-starrer Saaho (2019) and John Abraham-starrer Batla House (2019) on Independence Day.
