Actor Vidyut Jammwal has been acquitted in a 12-year assault case in Mumbai today. The actor was acquitted by the Metropolitan Magistrate court in Bandra citing 'lack of evidence' in the case.

The Commando (2013) actor was accused by a businessman of assaulting him with a bottle back in 2007. Speaking to ANI after the acquittal, Jammwal said, "The action hero is now totally free. The action hero only does ‘action’ in the movies is all I’d like to say."

Hindustan Times quoted Jammwal's lawyer, Aniket Nikam saying, "The case pertains to an allegation levelled against Vidyut Jammwal in the year 2007 of assaulting somebody while he was partying in a club in Mumbai. During the trial, we were able to establish that there was absolutely no incriminating evidence against the actor."

With the prosecution failing to establish any evidence in the case, Jammwal has been acquitted.

The actor is currently preparing for the release of the third part of the Commando franchise, Commando 3, set to release on 6 September 2019.
