Noblemen trailer: Ali Haji takes us through the trauma of bullying

Read in: Hindi

Vandana Kataria's first film as director puts the topic of bullying, especially in boarding schools, bang in focus.

The first scene of the Noblemen trailer gives us a clear perspective of the daily nightmares of Shay (Ali Haji). He is awakened at night by his classmates, who shove a ball into his mouth to quiet him and then take him away forcibly.

The reason for the repeated bullying? The more popular (and stronger) classmates want Shay to drop his lead role in the school’s production of The Merchant of Venice. The stubborn Shay refuses, and the bullying continues. And, as the trailer for Vandana Kataria’s directorial debut suggests, it doesn’t end happily for either side.

Noblemen also stars Kunal Kapoor as the drama teacher who encourages his students to find themselves in the arts. But the trailer, and the film, belongs to Ali Haji, who brings alive his character’s dilemma and daily trauma.

Actress Soni Razdan also seems to have a key role in the film as Shay’s mother.

The film, which has been playing at festivals for a while now, is due to be released in theatres on 28 June. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film.
