Last July, Ratnam had checked in to Apollo hospital for his yearly check-up. A source close to the filmmaker said that he usually gets himself checked once thoroughly before commencing shoot for his project.
On the work front, Ratnam is busy putting together everything for his next project which will be a film adaptation of popular Tamil epic novel, Ponniyin Selvan.
Over a decade ago, Ratnam had originally planned to make Ponniyin Selvan with Vijay, Vikram and Mahesh Babu, and later with Ram Charan and Karthi. His plans never materialised as every time he planned to get the project off the ground, it would get shelved for unknown reasons.
With Lyca Productions interested in bankrolling the project, Ratnam is hopeful of making the highly anticipated project with Vijay Sethupathi, Vikram, Jayam Ravi and Simbu.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently confirmed she’s part of the project. The rest of the cast and crew will be officially announced soon.
If everything goes as planned, the project will go on the floors in the next couple of months or by this year end.
