Laal Batti teaser: Mangesh Desai starrer is based in the aftermath of 26/11 attacks

During his chat with Cinestaan.com recently for his film Judgement (2019), Mangesh Desai had said that he is always on the lookout of playing characters he has never played before. After playing an out-and-out negative character in that film for the first time, he has another first with the character of a special task officer in Girish Mohite’s Laal Batti.

The teaser of the film gives a limited idea on the film. The story takes place in the aftermath of the tragic 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. To combat any such attacks in the future, the government of Maharashtra forms the ‘quick response team’ under Maharashtra police. Desai’s character is one of the members of the team. 

The actor looks tough as an officer of the said team, which was the requirement. How he has carried out the role will be known once the film releases. 

Another Marathi film that centred around the 26/11 attacks was Gajendra Ahire’s Hello Jai Hind! (2011). The film was the acting debut of celebrated production designer Nitin Chandrakant Desai. 

Mohite’s last film was the romantic comedy Conditions Apply: Ati Lagu (2017), which starred Subodh Bhave and Dipti Shrikant Devi. He is also the director of the famous ongoing TV serial Tula Pahate Re, which also stars Bhave in the lead. 

Laalbatti will be released on Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26 July.
