Shoojit Sircar's patriotic saga, Sardar Udham Singh, starring Vicky Kaushal, now has a scheduled release date. The film is now slated for release on 2 October 2020, the next birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Speaking to the tabloid, Mumbai Mirror, Sircar said, "Yes, we will be releasing the film on 2 October 2020. Keeping in mind the remaining shoot schedule, post-production and the time required to complete the schedule, my producers and good friends Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar advised this date for a feasible release next year and I have decided to go with it."
The film is a biopic on the freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh, who travelled to England to assasinate Michael O'Dwyer, to avenge 1919's Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
The production house posted a picture of Kaushal as Udham Singh back in April, when the crew began filming. With shooting schedules across Russia, UK, and other locations in Europe, in addition to north India, the film will see a majorly international schedule.
Besides Sardar Udham Singh (2020), Sircar's Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana starrer, Gulabo Sitabo is due to be released on 24 April 2020.
