Actor R Madhavan, last seen in a special appearance in Zero (2018), has been immersed in his latest, essaying the controversial Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was framed in an espionage case and was later acquitted.
The film is based on the ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan’s autobiography Ormakalude Brahmanapadam (In the Orbit of Memories) that was released in October 2017.
The latest update is that actress Simran has been roped in to play Madhavan’s wife in the film which is being made in four languages. Madhavan took to Instagram to announce the news about reuniting with Simran after 15 years.
He wrote: “15 years later Thiru and Indira turn into Mr and Mrs Nambi Narayanan.” In Mani Ratnam’s Kannathil Muthamittal (2002), Madhavan and Simran had worked together, playing husband and wife in the film. They’re again set to play a couple in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which is on the verge of completion.
It was recently revealed that Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya will be seen playing cameo roles in the film. While Khan will be seen essaying a cameo in the Hindi version of the film, Suriya is believed to have been signed for the Tamil version.
The film features Madhavan in multiple getups, playing the titular character at three different stages in his life, from the ages of 27 to 75. In order to transform into the septuagenarian scientist, Madhavan sought the help of his Rang De Basanti (2006) co-star Aamir Khan as the role required him to put on weight.
The film was originally supposed to be directed by Ananth Mahadevan, but it was recently revealed that Madhavan took over the reins from Mahadevan for reasons quite unknown. This project will mark Madhavan’s directorial debut.
Upon completion of this project, Madhavan will join the sets of upcoming Telugu-Hindi horror-thriller Silence, which also stars Anushka Shetty, Anjali and Michael Madsen.
