The good news for the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed film is that none of the new releases is likely to prove a threat to it in the second week.

After earning an impressive Rs144 crore nett during its extended first weekend, director Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat has been on a downward trend in the weekdays that followed. The Salman Khan-starrer thus finished its nine-day first week at an underwhelming Rs172.50 crore.
From here on, it was obvious that the film would only go down further. This is exactly what has happened on the first day of its second weekend. Bharat made just Rs3.75 crore nett yesterday, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The overall total of the film, which also stars Katrina Kaif and Sunil Grover, now stands at Rs176.25 crore. According to a trade source, Bharat was made on an overall budget of almost Rs150 crore. And if the film continues to struggle like this, it is unlikely to end up as a big hit.
To be declared a hit, the film needs to earn a decent sum in its second week. And for that, the second weekend starting today will be crucial.
Thankfully for Salman Khan, no big film that could prove a threat at the box office was released yesterday. Both the trilingual Game Over and Khamoshi have opened to poor numbers.
