Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor begin the shoot for RoohiAfza!

Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor have begun work on the second horror comedy from the Maddock Films stable, RoohiAfza.

The film, directed by Hardik Mehta, is being produced by Dinesh Vijan and Mrigdeep Lamba.

The cast and crew shared a picture from their first day on the shoot.

The film, based on a folktale, is yet another horror comedy from the production house following the success of Stree (2018). Stree was a surprise hit, making over Rs100 crore in its lifetime run.

RoohiAfza will see Rajkummar Rao share the screen with Janhvi Kapoor for the first time. The film sees Kapoor playing a double role, Roohi and Afsa. The story revolves around the folktale of women keeping the groom in a village awake, to prevent him being put to sleep by a ghost. It is believed that if the groom falls asleep, the ghost will haunt the couple for the rest of their lives.

The film is based on a story by Gautam Mehra and is scheduled for release on 20 March 2020.
