Box office: Salman Khan’s Bharat earns a good Rs172.50 crore in first week

Ajay Devgn-starrer De De Pyaar De (2019) has finished its fourth week with Rs91.92 crore.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat (2019) has had a good extended first week at the box office. Starring Salman Khan in the titular role, the film has earned Rs172.50 crore since its release on Eid in India, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Although the total number earned by the film is good, the trend hasn’t been positive in the weekdays. After earning Rs9 crore on Monday, the numbers have continuously declined with each passing day. The number registered yesterday came down to Rs5.25 crore.

As per our trade sources, Bharat, which also stars Katrina Kaif, is made at a cost between Rs130-150 crore. The film needs to complete some more distance in order to be called a proper hit. It will be interesting to see how the film fares in the second week beginning from today.

The word of mouth for Bharat has been mixed. But it hasn’t been as bad as Khan’s last two Eid releases – Tubelight (2017) and Race 3 (2018) – which has ensured that the film is quite safe at the box office.

On the other hand, Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and Tabu-starrer De De Pyaar De (2019) had a steady fourth week. The Akiv Ali-directed film has so far earned Rs91.92 crore in one month.
