The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir song 'Madaari': Dhanush shakes a leg to Amit Trivedi's wacky, fun dance number

Directed by Ken Scott, The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir is set to release on 21 June.

The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir might be Dhanush's first international project, but he is certainly carrying a lot of his Indianness into it. The song, 'Madaari', from the film captures the Indian 'fakir' shaking a leg in a posh nightclub to the familiar voice of Vishal Dadlani. Composed by Amit Trivedi, the song is a wacky dance number that grows on you the more you hear it.

The song begins with Dhanush's fakir being denied entry into the posh area of the nightclub, where French actress Berenice Bejo seems to be hanging out. Except, he has a way out. As he starts putting on his moves, he becomes the center of attention. From the desi 'kite flying' step to Michael Jackson, the actor puts on a show in his own style. Soon, everyone is dancing to his tunes.

The tune is certainly not a bad one. Vishal Dadlani brings his typical energy to the composition, delivering it with a filmi style. The singer-composer is often tasked with delivering raspy notes, and this feels like a refreshing change of pace. Of course, it also helps that he is singing to the tunes of Amit Trivedi, his regular collaborator.

Nikhita Gandhi comes in to the duet with Dadlani, and does well. Although, she only has a small portion, Gandhi manages to keep up with Bejo's enthusiasm. One can't say the same about the latter's lipsyncing to Hindi.

Trivedi's composition is vibrant and funky. The score moves from the unique mandolin and banjo, to the trombone and saxophone, making for an interesting combination. It brings in the Hindi film signature quite strong in this composition. Nevertheless, it works as the song slowly gains charm the more you listen to it.

The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir is set to release in theatres on 21 June.
