The song 'Allah Amar' from Raj Chakraborty’s Shesh Theke Shuru (2019) is a melancholic ballad on the separation from true love. The dejected lover in the song is Mahi, portrayed by Jeet, who is puzzled over God’s will on deciding his fate.

'Allah Amar' has been composed and sung by Arko Pravo Mukherjee. The simple lyrics that blend both the despair and yearning for love of Mahi have been penned down by Pranjal. The words express deep pain that is dramatically enacted on screen by Jeet himself.

In the visuals, Koel Mallick’s Pujarini is seen to be devastated as she leaves her home with packed luggage. Mahi is also in a similar state of mind as he shades tears recalling his fond memories with Pujarini. Their saga of despair is cut by a scene featuring the jovial Farzana (Ritabhari Chakraborty), who is getting ready for her wedding, decked up as a bride.

Pujarini is pregnant; however, it is clear from the visuals that her father is not happy with the fact that she is bearing a child. It can be assumed that the reason of resentment is because the pregnancy is out of wedlock.

On the other hand, Mahi arrives in his wedding with Farzana with a gloomy face wile Farzana blushes in happiness. He recalls the moments of his engagement with Pujarini and also getting arrested by the police before he gives words for his marriage with Farzana.

Pujarini continues to struggle with her pregnancy alone and Mahi cannot come to terms with the reality and finds it difficult to accept that he has got married.

The visuals fully convey the pangs of pain and the angst hidden the lyrics yet raises a lot of anticipation regarding the story. While it appears that Pujarini and Mahi have been separated by some unfortunate causes, Farazana, who, despite seeing her prospective groom in tears, is happy to get married to him, raises intrigue too.

The glimpse of Jeet getting arrested suggests that the narrative has a lot of twists in store that lead these characters to the eventual positions they are in the song.

Shesh Theke Shuru is due to be released on Eid, 5 June.
