Even as she prepares for her upcoming Judgemental Hai Kya (2019) with actor Rajkummar Rao, Kangana Ranaut is already blazing on with her next film, Dhaakad (2020). The latest poster from the film carries on the monicker of female action-hero, with Ranaut firing on all cylinders in the action-packed poster.
The poster has Ranautas a fiery fighter shooting off bullets, while she holds a gun in another hand. The film, directed by Razy Ghai, is said to be an action-thriller.
In a press statement quoted by the newspaper The Hindustan Times, Ghai said, "There is a big void when it comes to female-oriented action films. I haven’t heard of a lead heroine in an out-and-out action entertainer in a contemporary space. That’s why we wanted to explore this genre."
The earlier poster of the film saw Kangana, holding the same two guns, in the foreground of a burned down battleground/warehouse. The poster did set the tone for the role that Ranaut embodies in the film.
The actress has been in action even offscreen with a public tirade against a journalist at the recent press conference for Judgemental Hai Kya. The unbecoming tirade might have left quite a few of the cast and team of Prakash Kovelamudi's film embarrassed, but it has only highlighted Ranaut's temperament as the 'dhaakad'.
In an earlier statement, Ranaut had said, "After the success of Manikarnika, it has been proven that audience across the globe are loving larger than life films with a female hero. Dhaakad is not only a benchmark film for my career. but will be a turning point for Indian cinema as well. The film is mounted on a large scale, is one of a kind female-led action film, and is apt for a Diwali release. If it is received well, there will be no looking back for women in indian Cinema."
The film, set for a release in Diwali 2020, will be shot in Thailand and the cities of Prague and Budapest in Europe. Ranaut is currently working on Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Panga (2020), in which she plays a kabaddi player. Razy Ghai's Dhaakad is more likely to go on the floors next year.
