It is obvious that a film touches you because of its story, treatment and the performances. However, the contribution of the background score shouldn’t be ignored by any means. Like it is with the teaser of Sanjay Dutt’s first Marathi film as producer, Baba (2019).
The teaser is a joyride and its sweet and melodious background score, likely by composer duo Rohan-Rohan, is largely responsible for that. The tune is so catchy that it stays in your mind even if you have seen the teaser just once and you won’t mind it.
Going by the teaser, Baba tells the journey of a deaf and mute kid (Aryan Meghji). He is a carefree boy staying in a picturesque village in Maharashtra. His father (Deepak Dobriyal) also suffers from the same physical challenges as his son. His best friend is played by Chittaranjan Giri.
The makers have hidden the main plot of the film and rightly so since it is only a teaser. But you get enough sneak peek into the simple yet enchanting life of the young boy and are eager to see the movie.
Baba is the Marathi film debut for Dobriyal. As his character is deaf, he won’t have to speak in Marathi. This is also Meghji’s film debut. He was a contestant on an online comedy reality show. The film also stars Nandita Patkar, Spruha Joshi and Abhijeet Khandkekar.
Directed by Raj R Gupta, Baba is all set to release on 2 August.
