The two new releases Sanjay Leela Bhansali-produced Malaal and Anupam Kher-starrer One Day: Justice Delivered have turned out to be failures on their opening day.
Malaal earned a mere Rs45-50 lakh yesterday, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com. Directed by Sandeep Hadawale, the film is the launch pad for Bhansali’s niece Sharmin Segal and actor Jaaved Jaaferi’s son Meezaan Jaaferi.

There was no buzz for the film despite it being produced by Bhansali and the trailer too had met with only lukewarm response. Moreover, the film now has received negative reviews and word-of-mouth leaving no hopes for the next week.

With no competition whatsoever from the two new releases, Anubhav Sinha’s Article 15 has continued its good run on the first day of its second week. The Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer made Rs2.25 crore on Friday (5 July).
This has taken its overall total to Rs36.25 crore. As per our trade sources, Article 15 is made at a budget of Rs28 crore.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Kabir Singh is unstoppable even as it entered the third week yesterday. Starring Shahid Kapoor, the film amassed Rs5.25 crore in the day, which takes its grand total to a mammoth Rs215 crore.
