There has been excitement for Kabir Khan’s '83 (2020) ever since it was announced as the film is based on India’s cricket World Cup victory in 1983.
Ranveer Singh’s look as India’s former captain and all-rounder Kapil Dev is out and it has gone viral in no time. The makers have shared it on the film’s official Facebook page on the occasion of Singh's 34th birthday today.
There has been keen interest to know how Singh would look like Dev because they don’t look similar. However, his look from the film as the Haryana Hurricane has answered all questions.
The makers and especially the makeup department have ensured that the actor looks as much as Dev as possible. Singh’s etermined glance makes you recall the former cricketer and so does his way of toying with the ball. The old-fashioned simple white jersey completes the touch.
Dev himself has been on board with the makers to maintain as much authenticity as possible.
The former all-rounder played one of the greatest one day international innings of 175 not out against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup. Unfortunately, there is no footage of the match as the broadcasters were on strike that day. Hence, except those who were present in the stadium that day nobody else has seen it.
It will be interesting to see if portions of the match are recreated in the film. The chance is high since the makers have shot in the same place Tunbridge Wells where the said match took place in England.
'83 will be releasing on 10 April 2020.
