We have seen Sunny Deol rescue innocents countless times in movies. Now the actor has managed the same in real life as a member of parliament from Gurdaspur under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Deol has reportedly rescued a 45-year-old woman, named Veena Bedi, who was allegedly sold to a Pakistani man in Kuwait. She was allegedly lured with the promise of a high paying job in Kuwait and was torture during her stay there.
During his last visit to the Kartarpur Corridor, the family of the victim urged Deol to intervene and help rescue her. The actor-turned-politician got in touch with the external affairs ministry in New Delhi and took the help of the District Legal Services Authority and two NGOs, one based in Kuwait and other in Canada, in order to bring her back home. She returned on 25 July.
Vipin Mahajan, the district president of the BJP, shared this news with the Hindi daily Dainik Savera.
Deol’s father and veteran actor Dharmendra took to Twitter to congratulate his son. He shared an image of the same news and wrote, “Do your duty like a job son. God bless you.”

Deol joined the BJP just before the general elections this year and won from Gurdaspur. His step-mother and veteran actress Hema Malini was also re-elected from her seat in Mathura. Dharmendra was also an MP for the BJP from Bikaner constituency from 2004 to 2009.
