Shabana Azmi joins Swara Bhasker and Divya Dutta on Sheer Qorma

In terms of good casting, Sheer Qorma's makers cannot have found a better combination than Swara Bhasker, Divya Dutta and Shabana Azmi. The latest to join the cast, Azmi, is reportedly playing a new-age mother in the LGBTQ romance between Swara Bhasker and Divya Dutta. 

Directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, Sheer Qorma will focus on a new-age love story between the characters of Bhasker and Dutta, while showcasing the struggle for love and acceptance faced by the LGBTQ (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Queer) community. 

Speaking to the tabloid Pune Mirror, Azmi said that she was referred the script by Dutta. "I was moved by the script which was recommended to me by Divya Dutta. After that, I met Faraz who came across as sincere, honest, and committed to the story," she said.

The report also quoted Ansari as saying, "Shabanaji's character is the mother we all deserve - the Mother India of the 21st century." 

The crew are expected to begin shooting for the film later this week.
