Punjabi film director Smeep Kang's latest Hindi film, Jhootha Kahin Ka (2019), takes lying to a new level. Best friends, Varun (Omkar Kapoor) and Karan (Sunny Singh Nijjar) tell little white lies that snowball into big messes for both their lives.
While Karan tries to put off marriage to his girlfriend (Rucha Vaidya), Varun lies and says he is orphan to woo Riya (Nimisha Mehta). After their marriage, Varun's father, played by Rishi Kapoor, shows up. And the lies pile on.
Varun lies and says Karan is married to Riya and he tells his wife that his father is actually Karan's father. It's all a house of cards which is going to come down soon.
Jimmy Sheirgill is also part of the film as Karan's uncle Tommy, a criminal with a volatile personality. Rajesh Sharma and Lillette Dubey also have roles in the madcap comedy.
Omkar and Nijjar last worked together in Pyar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015) and continue their roles as bros who are trying to escape the women in their lives. It's a look they can't carry off.
Rishi Kapoor, last seen in Rajma Chawal (2018), returns to the big screen after taking a break in the US to treat cancer. Incidentally, he starred in the 1979 film of the same name with wife Neetu.
Produced by Anuj Sharma, Deepak Mukut, Jhootha Kahin Ka is due to be released on 19 July.
