Kangana Ranaut was the centre of attention at the trailer launch of her upcoming film Judgemental Hai Kya. Directed by Prakash Kovelamudi, the film also stars Rajkummar Rao and Satish Kaushik.

During the interaction at the event, Ranaut admitted that her real life experiences helped her relate with her character in the film. “There was a phase when people tried openly shaming me by claiming that I have mental issues and I am on medication and that’s why I am making all these claims. I had even answered them saying, 'So what?' Actually, I wasn’t on any medication. But even if I was, I don’t think I would have been embarrassed in accepting it,” she said.

Ranaut also went onto say that she felt the film is based on her life. “When Kanika ji [writer Kanika Dhillon] narrated the role, it had my sympathy for the character as well. After hearing the role, I felt this is my story. It is because of the phase in my life in 2016-2017 that I was able to relate with it. At that time people used to call me ‘pagli [mental]' and all [sic],” she added.

Earlier titled Mental Hai Kya, the film is the story of two neighbours who are suspects for a murder.

Judgemental Hai Kya will be released on 26 July.
