Veteran actress Sowcar Janaki lands a key role in Jyotika’s next

Well-known south Indian actress Sowcar Janaki, who was last seen three years ago in Telugu film Babu Bangaram, has been roped in for a crucial role in Jyotika’s next yet-untitled Tamil project. The film will be directed by Jeethu Joseph.
While details regarding Janaki’s role remains a mystery, it has been confirmed by reliable sources that she plays a key character. This project marks her return to Tamil films after five years.
Best known for directing Malayalam film Drishyam (2013), this will be Joseph’s second Tamil outing after Kamal Haasan-starrer Papanasam (2015).
The yet-untitled thriller, which marks Joseph’s maiden collaboration with Jyotika, will also star Karthi in an important role. This is also the first time Jyotika and Karthi will be seen sharing the screen together.
Sathyaraj and Malayalam actor Anson will also play crucial roles in the film, which has music by Govind Vasantha. RD Rajasekar has been roped in to crank the camera. The makers are yet to reveal the rest of the cast and crew.
Rensil D’Silva and Manikandan are co-writing the film with Joseph and it is being jointly bankrolled by Viacom 18 and Parallel Minds Productions.
Meanwhile, Jyothika awaits the release of Raatchasi, in which she plays a school teacher. The film, directed by debutant S Raj, emphasizes on the current condition of government schools.
She’s also believed to have landed an important role in Mani Ratnam’s film adaptation of epic Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan.
