Young director Karthick Naren, who rose to fame with his sensational debut film Dhruvangal Pathinaaru (2016), is all set to begin work on his third project, titled Mafia: Chapter 1. The film stars Arun Vijay and Priya Bhavani Shankar.
Lyca Productions, which is bankrolling the project, unveiled the title and first look on Tuesday, 2 July. Going by the first look poster, the film will feature Arun Vijay sporting three different avatars and it is evident that the film is a gangster drama.
The project will go on floors from 6 July.
Talking about the project, Karthick Naren told magazine Cinema Express: “As the gangster drama is set in Chennai, the entire project will be shot in the city. We're planning to wrap up the shoot in a single schedule of 35 days. The first look is more of a sneak peek on what can be expected from the characters. We have incorporated subtle hints about the lead's characterisation in it. All three principal actors will be doing roles that they have not done before.”
The film, which features Prasanna as the antagonist, will have music by Jakes Bejoy, while Gokul Benoy will handle the camera.
Last seen in Magizh Thirumeni’s crime thriller Thadam (2019), Arun Vijay has two more projects in his kitty. He has just wrapped up the shooting of Agni Siragugal, which also stars Vijay Antony. He also has a film called Boxer which will see him in an action-packed role.
