It has already been revealed that Anushka Shetty will be seen playing an important role in megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming Telugu magnum opus Syeraa Narasimha Reddy.
The latest update is that she plays the role of Rani of Jhansi Lakmibai. According to a source close to the film’s unit told magazine Cinema Express: “She narrates the valour and courage of Kurnool-based Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy and credits him as India’s first freedom fighter in the film. It's an important role that also comes at another crucial juncture right before the interval.”
Shetty has already shot for her portion. The film is in the final leg of production with principal shooting being completed.
The film, directed by Surender Reddy, also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara, Sudeep, Vijay Sethupathi and Jagapathi Babu, among others in important roles.
In the film, Bachchan plays Chiranjeevi’s mentor. Last March, he had joined the film’s sets and was thrilled to be part of this project. Before joining the sets, he shared a blog post in which he wrote about why this film is special.
“Dear friend Chiranjeevi, that majestic super star and icon from the world of Andhra and Telugu cinema, requests for a guest appearance in his magnum opus, on a most valiant period character that he portrays, and I agree. So, am off to begin its shoot in Hyderabad in a few hours,” he wrote, sharing his look from the film.
Syeraa Narasimha Reddy, which is slated to be released next year, marks the debut of popular Hindi film composer Amit Trivedi in Telegu cinema. The film, produced by Ram Charan, is made at a budget of Rs150 crore.
