Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra's Jabariya Jodi has been postponed yet again. The producers have decided to move the film's theatrical release from 2 August to 9 August. The decision was made late in the weekend, citing a packed schedule for the upcoming week.
This is the third time the film has been postponed since its release was first announced on 17 May. The film was later moved to 12 July, and then again to 2 August. The latest postponement ensures that the film avoids a clash with Sonakshi Sinha's Khandaani Shafakhaana on 2 August.
In a statement, the producers stated that the decision to move the film to 9 August was taken in view of the packed theatre schedule. With Kabir Singh continuing its run in the theatres, and Lion King, Super 30 and Judgementall Hai Kya also enjoying a fair collection, it would have affected the returns for the Parineeti Chopra-Sidharth Malhotra-starrer.
The 9 August date also ensures the film has a solo release, with the added advantage of the Bakri Eid weekend at the theatres. The producers are also targetting the Independence Day weekend for an extended run.
Jabariya Jodi revolves around the plot of groom kidnapping incidents that were reported in north India. The film, directed by Prashant Singh, marks the reunion of Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra after Hasee Toh Phasee (2014).
