Ye Re Ye Re Paisa (2018) was a madcap comedy based in Mumbai. Now Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2 is ready to hit the screens. A large part of the sequel takes place in London. The trailer of Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2 makes it clear that the makers chose the European city since the film is inspired from real cases of Indians conducting fraud and migrating to London to escape the law.
The film is based on businessman Neeraj Shah (the name clearly inspired from Nirav Modi), played by Pushkar Shrotri, running away to London after committing a bank fraud worth Rs10,000 crore. The recovery agent cum goon Anna (Sanjay Narvekar) is given the task of recovering the amount from Shah, for which he will be paid Rs100 crore.
Anna agrees and forms a team of experts (Aniket Vishwasrao, Mrinmayee Godbole, Anand Ingle and Priyadarshan Jadhav) and they are off to London for the mission. There, Prasad Oak’s character, who stays in London, also joins them.
The film might be modelled on real life frauds but it is not a serious affair by any means. It has the same amount of madness that the first film had.
Although few of the jokes are not very funny, the film appears to be better than the first part, at least going by the trailer. The scale of Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2 is massive for a Marathi film, which is felt by the rich production value and locations.
Directed by Hemant Dhome, Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2 will be released on 9 August.
