Sivakarthikeyan’s Hero to be released on 20 December, title poster out

The film, which is currently on the verge of getting wrapped up, has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja while George C Williams has cranked the camera.

Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming Tamil action-thriller Hero, being directed by PS Mithran, will hit the big screens on 20 December, its makers revealed on Sunday (28 July) via a special poster.

Announcing on Twitter, Mithran wrote: “Unleashing Hero on Dec 20th.” He also shared the title poster which features a comic book page, suggesting that the project might be a superhero film.

Kalyani Priyadarshan has been signed to play the leading lady, while Hindi film actor Abhay Deol will be seen in an important role. Arjun has been roped in to play the antagonist. It’s worth mentioning that Arjun had played the antagonist in Mithran’s Irumbu Thirai (2018) as well.

In September 2018, talking to the daily Times of India, Mithran said that he and Siva had been planning to work together for a while and had previously worked on a short film together. Reportedly, they were even supposed to work on a project together before Irumbu Thirai.

“I’d written a story for him long ago, and we were supposed to do a film even before Irumbu Thirai released, sometime in 2017. After the release of my film, we met and decided to work together. This project will be a racy thriller. That’s how I’ve planned it for now. Just like Irumbu Thirai, this film will also have a social message,” Mithran wrote.

The film, which is currently on the verge of getting wrapped up, has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja while George C Williams has cranked the camera.

Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan has two more projects in his kitty. Apart from Hero, he also has a film with director Pandiraj and one with director Vignesh Shivan.
