Vetrimaaran’s next to star comedian Soori

Filmmaker Vetrimaaran, who is currently busy wrapping up his upcoming Tamil thriller Asuran starring Dhanush, will team up with popular comedian Soori for his next yet-untitled project.

Tipped to be an out-and-out family entertainer, the announcement regarding the project was made on Saturday (27 July). Elred Kumar will be bankrolling this film which is expected to go on floors in the next couple of months.

According to a statement released by the producer, the rest of the cast and crew will be announced very soon.

Soori, who rose to fame with his performance in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu (2009), has gone on to work in films such as Kalavaani (2010), Sundarapandian (2012), Jilla (2014), Maan Karate (2014) and Saamy Square (2018), among others..

Meanwhile, Vetrimaaran’s Asuran is gearing up for release soon. The film, which also stars Manju Warrier, is based on Tamil novel Vekkai and features Dhanush in dual roles as father and son. It is tipped to be a revenge drama that traces the fight of an oppressed community against those oppressing

While the makers are yet to reveal the rest of the cast and crew, it has however been learnt from reliable sources that popular Tamil director Balaji Sakthivel, known for helming critically-acclaimed films like Kaadhal (2004) and Vazhakku Enn 18/9 (2012), has been roped in to play the antagonist.

Composer GV Prakash Kumar has been signed to take care of music and this will be his fourth collaboration with Dhanush and third with Vetrimaaran, who also has Vada Chennai 2 with Dhanush in the pipeline.
