The trailer of Akkineni Nagarjuna and Rakul Preet Singh's forthcoming Telugu romantic comedy Manmadhudu 2 was unveiled on Thursday, 25 July, and it was received very well by audience on social media platforms.

The film, gearing up for release on 2 August, is tipped to be a sequel Nagarjuna’s own 2002 Telugu romantic comedy Manmadhudu. However, at the trailer launch event, Nagarjuna clarified that Manmadhudu 2 is not a sequel.

In fact, he went on to say that Manmadhudu 2 is a remake of a French film called Prête-Moi Ta Main (2006). He added that they’ve just picked Nagarjuna’s character from Manmadhudu and incorporated it into Manmadhudu 2.

Speaking at the event, Nagarjuna said: “We have just taken the character from Manmadhudu, but the film is a remake but not any sequel to the old film. We acquired the remake rights and made slight changes to suit Telugu sensibilities.”

The trailer of Manmadhudu 2 introduces Nagarjuna's character as someone with commitment issues. On the other hand, free-spirited Avantika (Rakul Preet) falls in love with him and it brings about a change in their lives.

Directed by Rahul Ravindran, the film also stars Samantha Akkineni in a cameo apart from Lakshmi and Vennela Kishore among others.

This is Rahul’s second directorial project. He made his debut as a director last year with Telugu romantic drama Chi La Sow (2018), which was bankrolled by Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios.
