After playing mother to star Dhanush in The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir (2019), actress Amruta Sant returns for another interesting role with Batla House (2019), directed by Nikkhil Advani.
The actress has regularly appeared in plays with Sunil Shanbag, Makrand Deshpande and Divya Jagdale. She also picked up Best Actress honours for Nagesh Bhosle's Panhala (2015) at the MATA Sanman Awards.
"I am playing the activist who is against the special cell and is protesting against the system," she stated. "It's a very strong character, who is fighting the government and the police force, trying to convince people to stand against injustice."
Sant spoke of her experience on the set of the action thriller which is based upon the real events of Operation Batla House in 2008.
"I am glad I got a chance to work with a director like Nikkhil Advani," she said. "He made sure that all his actors were comfortable on the set. He is a very approachable director and open to ideas. And if he feels it works for the film he is more than happy for us actors to work around our improvisations. I think this brings about a sense of collaboration on the set."
The actress also talked about co-stars John Abraham and Mrunal Thakur. "John is a superstar!" she said. "Until this film happened, I didn't know him on a one-to-one basis. He is chilled out and humble, a thorough gentleman. Mrunal is kind and very helpful. It was great working with her!"
Batla House goes up against the Akshay Kumar multi-starrer Mission Mangal and Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood on 15 August in India.
