Jabariya Jodi song 'Ki Honda Pyaar': Arjit Singh delivers another rumination on heartbreak

The singer shines once more in the Vishal Mishra composition, with lyrics from Raj Shekhar.

Sonal Pandya

A melancholy song on love, that's right up singer Arijit Singh's alley. The song seems to signify the break up of the friendship and love of the characters of Abhay, played by Sidharth Malhotra, and Babli, played by Parineeti Chopra.

They've known each other since they were children, but now Babli is getting ready married to someone, and Abhay hasn't yet declared his feelings for her. Malhotra broods with alchohol (appropriate in an Arijit Singh number) while Chopra gazes out to nothing during her wedding festivities.

With a title like Jabariya Jodi, it seems Abhay will have to be forced to attend his own wedding.

Composer Vishal Mishra's score is mellow and flowing. It has a wry tone that matches its lyrics by Raj Shekhar which speaks of broken hearts and love gone by. Singh brings the finishing touches on the song with his vocals. He takes the song through different tempo - soft when needed, and louder in choral portions.

It's a typical Arjit Singh number on heartbreak that delivers yet again. Neha Kakkar sings the female version.

Jabariya Jodi, the directorial debut of Prashant Singh, is due to be released on 2 August.
