Sheila Dikshit death: Lata Mangeshkar, Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Anupam Kher offer condolences


The former Delhi chief minister breathed her last today, 20 July, at the age of 81.

Former chief minister of Delhi and Congress leader Sheila Dikshit breathed her last today, 20 July, at a Delhi hospital due to cardiac arrhythmia. She was 81. Dikshit was the only CM of Delhi to hold the chair for three terms. 

As soon as the news of her demise was made public, condolences from various corners of the country and the world started pouring in. This also includes people from the Hindi film fraternity. 

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar paid her tribute by tweeting: “Was deeply saddened to hear about Sheila ji’s demise. A remarkable woman, former CM of New Delhi and a keen admirer of all art forms. We never discussed politics but had long talks on music and poetry. May her soul rest in peace and heartfelt condolences to her family.” 

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who is currently in New York, wrote: “Just woke up in NY to the sad news about the demise of #SheilaDikshit ji. Had the privilege of meeting her at various occasions. She was a very warm, affectionate and a dignified person and politician. We will miss her. Om Shanti.” 

Actor Akshay Kumar also offered his condolences on the micro-blogging site: “Extremely sad to know about the passing away of #SheilaDixit ji...she effectively changed the face of Delhi during her tenure. Heartfelt condolences to her family.” 

Similarly, other known names like Varun Dhawan, Raveena Tandon, Rekha Bhardwaj, Richa Chadha and Bhumi Pednekar also paid tribute to the late politician.
